Even the little birds which we see in our feeders daily can be very interesting to observe, and we could easily forget just how wide the range of sizes birds can come in. From chickadees to ostriches and everything in between birds are in reality quite diversified. The harpy eagle is no exception to this, and this remarkable bird has a lot going for this.
The harpy eagle is regarded as the big, most powerful eagle in the world. It may grow to at least 42 inches long and possess exceptionally large feet to encourage that weight. And at the end of those toes are talons which were designed with murdering in mind. They use those large claws that get to 3 or 4 inches to catch and kill their prey prior to treating themselves into a fresh meal.
In fact, these birds may shoot down primates and sloths, that’s just how successful they are. They swoop in on a wing span of about seven and a half feet across, leaving hardly any room to escape from its claws of departure.
But they are not simply about killing. These large birds possess an incredible display of feathers in their heads that give them a somewhat astounded appearance.Almost appearing a set of tufted ears, the more superb grey color of their plumage brings them to looking like ghosts. But there’s nothing supernatural about them.Their size and strength are extremely real, and should be respected as the wonderful raptors that they’re.
